The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, have signed Brazilian futsal star Chico Paulista for the 2016-17 Major Arena Soccer League season.

"We're excited to get a player of the quality and stature to come and join the Fury," said Fury president and coach Bernie Lilavois. "He is a world class player and we expect that his skill will make the transition from futsal to arena soccer very easy, and he will be able to contribute immediately."

Paulista left his club in Brazil earlier this summer for a career in the United States-based Professional Futsal League, which will not begin play until 2018.

“Having players such as Mauricio Salles and some of our other veterans will help Chico get acclimated to the United States, and hopefully the Fury locker room right away,” Lilavois said.

Ontario will open the 2016-17 season with a preseason game against the Turlock Express at 3:05 p.m. Oct. 23 at Citizens Business Bank Arena, with the regular season beginning at home at 3:05 p.m. Oct. 30 against Atletico Baja. All tickets for the Oct. 23 preseason game are only $5.

Season tickets for the 2016-17 are on sale now through the Ontario Fury’s office at 909-457-0252. Season ticket holders enjoy the same seat for all 11 home games, free parking at Citizens Business Bank Arena, merchandise discounts and invitations to exclusive events.
