The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, got a hat trick from Adrien Perez (Ontario HS, Loyola Marymount) but could not stop the host San Diego Sockers on the power play, as San Diego exacted a bit of revenge on the Fury in an 8-6 victory Sunday night at Valley View Casino Center.

San Diego captain Kraig Chiles scored four times, including twice on the power play, as San Diego avenged their first loss of the season, last Thursday at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Ontario jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, as they pushed past a tired San Diego team that played the night before in Sonora. Juan Gonzalez opened the scoring, followed by Maicon de Abreu, before Gonzalez set up Perez for his first on a 2-on-0 break against goaltender Chris Toth.

But the Sockers found their legs in the second quarter, scoring four times, including twice on the power play. Chiles scored three of his goals in the period, the final one coming with 10 seconds remaining in the half on the power play.

Both teams held leads in the third quarter, as Ontario went up 6-5, as Perez tied the game early in the second half, then gave the Fury the lead, beating three San Diego players on the dribble and slotting it past Toth for a 6-5 lead.

But Toth was credited with assists on the next two San Diego goals, with Erick Tovar getting the game winner past the outstretched arms of Fury goaltender Jose Miranda. The Sockers added another goal late in the game just as a power play expired.

Ontario returns to Citizens Business Bank Arena on Friday night to start a two-game home stand. The Fury will try and corral the league’s leading scorer Franck Tayou and the Soles de Sonora at 7 p.m.  Friday night for National Core Jersey Night. The Fury will be wearing special jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game to benefit National Community Core Renaissance and its mission in the community.

Tickets for the game, as well as the Fury’s next home game Jan. 31, are on sale now at the Citizens Business Bank Arena box office, online at or through the Fury’s offices by calling 909-457-0252.
