ONTARIO FURY RETURN 16 PLAYERS FROM 2016-17 PLAYOFF TEAM

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, will have 16 players from last year’s playoff team returning to take the field at Citizens Business Bank Arena for the 2017-18 season.

Topping the list of returners are fifth-year members Israel Sesay and Tino Nunez. The two players, both Major League Soccer veterans, have played with the Fury since its opening game in 2013.

Last season’s leading scorer Leonardo de Oliveira will once again look to lead the way for the Fury up front, being joined by returning defender Thiago Goncalves and forward Francisco “Chico” Cordeiro. Also returning for their second season with Ontario are Maicon de Abreu, Douglas Lima, Arturo Alanis and Jinho Kim.

Brothers Juan Carlos and Jose Gonzalez (Cal State San Bernardino) return for their third season with the Fury, while Andy Reyes -- fresh off a strong showing with the US National Arena Soccer Team at the World Minifootball Federation World Cup in Tunisia -- also comes back for a third season. Corey Maret, who also represented the United States in Tunisia, returns for his fourth season in Ontario. Riverside’s Robert Tornel will return to the Fury for the 2017-18 season, opening the year on the injured reserve list, as he continues to rehabilitate from surgery as will Gustavo Campos. Jiho Lee will also re-join the team after personal commitments have finished back home in South Korea.

Not returning for the 2017-18 season are twin brothers Joey and Jayme Kapinos, Eric Guzman, Alex Caceres and Nick Perera.

The rest of the Fury’s roster for the 2017-18 season will be announced after their contracts are approved by the Major Arena Soccer League.

The Fury will open their 2017-18 regular season at home taking on their Pacific Division rivals, the Turlock Express at 3 p.m. Nov. 5th at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
