The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, have announced that midfielder Juan Carlos Gonzalez for the 2016-17 Major Arena Soccer League season.

Juan was an honorable mention choice for the league’s all-Rookie team in the 2015-16 season, scoring nine goals and adding four assists in 14 games for the Fury last season. He played for Mexico in the first MASL International Challenge game at Citizens Business Bank Arena this past summer.

“Juan has become a valued member of our squad,” said Fury president and coach Bernie Lilavois. “He is tenacious on the ball and has a flair for coming up big when we need him to. He has grown as a player over the summer, and the experiences he’s had will help us this season.”

Gonzalez, his brother Jose (also a member of the Fury last season), brother Christian and other friends from Taft College represented the United States at the Neymar Jr.’s Five Street Soccer tournament in Brazil, where they were eliminated by quarterfinalist Bulgaria in the Round of 32. Gonzalez and his brother Jose also played soccer at Cal State San Bernardino.

Ontario will open the 2016-17 season with a preseason game against the Turlock Express at 3:05 p.m. Oct. 23 at Citizens Business Bank Arena, with the regular season beginning at home at 3:05 p.m. Oct. 30 against Atletico Baja. All tickets for the Oct. 23 preseason game are only $5.
