The Ontario Fury have acquired forward Nick Perera from the San Diego Sockers for the 2016-17 Major Arena Soccer League season in exchange for cash considerations.

Perera, 30, was third on the Sockers in scoring during the 2015-16 season, scoring 13 goals and adding 14 assists. In 2014-15, he scored 27 goals and had 49 points.

“Nick is a veteran who knows how to win,” said Fury President and coach Bernie Lilavois. “I have watched him over the years come out on the field and take charge and bring his team back from the brink several times. It will be good to have him on our side for a change.”

Originally from Spain, Perera spent four seasons in the MISL with the Milwaukee Wave, scoring 52 goals in 69 games, before returning to San Diego in 2014-15. He is also a regular on the United States National Beach Soccer team, having been selected over the last five years, and is the team’s captain.
