The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, rallied in the second half, but could not catch the San Diego Sockers, falling 8-5 in a preseason game Sunday at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Kraig Chiles opened the scoring just 1:20 into the game, converting a top of the arc restart, with Jinho Kim tying it with just 24 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

But Erick Tovar scored twice in the second quarter -- the first two of four goals on the night for Velez, as the Sockers led 3-1 at the half. The Sockers extended the lead to 6-2 in the third quarter before the Fury rallied, scoring the next three goals, as Douglas Lima, Maicon de Abreu and Chico Francisco pulled the Fury back within one.

With Tino Nunez in the penalty box, the Sockers turned the tide and shut down the Fury to close out the game.
