FURY CAN'T SLOW HEAT IN THIRD, FALL 7-6

by Bill Norris

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, gave up five consecutive goals to the Harrisburg Heat over the second and third quarters and could not rally back in time, as they fell in the second half of a back-to-back, 7-6, at the PA Farm Show Arena.

Ontario (2-1) got off to a strong start Saturday, less than 24 hours after beating Syracuse in overtime. Juan Carlos Gonzalez and Leonardo de Oliveira scored in the first 7:26 of the first quarter to give the Fury an early advantage. The Fury had two more two-goal leads in the first half, before going to halftime up 4-3.

The third quarter was the Fury’s undoing, as they allowed the Heat four consecutive goals – two from Bruno Ramos – in the first 11:18 of the quarter, giving Harrisburg a 7-4 lead.

Ontario rallied from there, as Israel Sesay and Maicon de Abreu each scored, pulling the Fury back to a one-goal deficit. But that was all the Harrisburg defense would allow.

De Oliveira had a goal and three assists for the Fury, while de Abreu had two goals in the loss.

Ontario now comes back to Southern California, where it will take on the San Diego Sockers at 5 p.m. next Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Valley View Casino Center. It will be game three of the Fury’s five-game road trip. Ontario will conclude the road trip after Thanksgiving, with a trip to take on the defending Ron Newman Cup champion Baltimore Blast on Dec. 1 and a return to Harrisburg the next night.

The Fury will return to Citizens Business Bank Arena Dec. 10 to take on the El Paso Coyotes at 3 p.m.
