The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, fell behind 3-0 in the first quarter and could not rally to catch the Tacoma Stars in an 8-6 loss Thursday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Former Fury forward Nick Perera scored twice and had two assists as Tacoma pulled even with Ontario in the standings as both teams hit the halfway point of their schedules with identical 5-6 records.

Ontario outshot the Stars 29-13 in the game, but was stymied by goaltender Danny Waltman and his 23 saves. The Stars also blocked 17 Fury shots.

Tacoma jumped out to a 3-0 first quarter lead, and led 5-2 at the half. Ontario played the entire fourth quarter with an extra attacker in place of a goaltender, outscoring the Stars 2-1 in the fourth.

Juan Carlos Gonzalez led the Fury offense, scoring three goals and adding two assists in the losing cause. Maicon de Abreu was the only other Fury player with multiple points, with two assists. Philip Lund and Vince McCluskey had a goal and assist each for the Stars.

The Fury won’t have much time to dwell on the loss, as they will leave Ontario early in the morning for Turlock to take on the Express at 7 p.m. The game can be watched live on MASL.tv.
