FURY NEED OVERTIME TO BEAT EXPRESS

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, got an goal from Jiho Lee 2:45 into overtime as Ontario opened the second half of its schedule with a 7-6 victory over the Turlock Express at Turlock Indoor Soccer.

Ontario led the game 5-1 22 seconds into the fourth quarter after Adrien Perez scored the first of two goals on the night. But the host Express charged back to tie the game at 5 with 8:47 remaining. Perez scored again 3:12 to go, but Arturo Pulido tied it 30 seconds later to force the extra session.

In the overtime, Chico Francisco Cordeiro received a pass in the middle of the offensive zone, and he tapped it to Lee, who fired past goaltender Santos Arteaga for the game-winner. It was Lee’s first goal of the season, after joining the Fury last week from South Korea.

Juan Carlos Gonzalez continued his hot scoring weekend, putting in three goals to lead the Fury in the absence of injured leading scorer Leonardo de Oliveira. Jinho Kim added a goal and assist for the Fury, and Cordeiro had a pair of assists.

Adrian Plascencia and Pulido each had two goals to lead the Express.

The Fury return to Citizens Business Bank Arena at 7 p.m. this Thursday night to take on the Pacific Division-leading San Diego Sockers. Thursday night’s game will be Teddy Bear Toss night, as fans are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals to throw on the field after the Fury’s first goal that will be collected and donated to local children’s charities.
